Renewable Energy Booming Around the World
BEJING—The world’s total investment in clean energy was $310 billion in 2014, a new report published by Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF) concludes. The biggest boost in renewable energy investment came from China, where investment in the sector has grown by 415% in the last 10 years. Spending $89.5 billion last year, China now accounts for almost 29% of the world’s total renewables investment. BNEF’s report also identifies the sectors where most of the money is flowing into: solar energy in China and the U.S.; and offshore wind energy in Europe, with the UK and Germany leading that group.
