New Guidance to Help Engineers Keep Up With Building Technologies

LONDON—New guidance is set to be published by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) to ensure engineers’ skills and knowledge are in step with evolving building systems. IET’s new Code of Practice for Connected Systems Integration in Buildings, expected in 2016, is intended to promote good practice in the specification, design and integration of connected systems in buildings. It is aimed at engineers who install systems such as audio, IT and security systems into buildings. The code of practice will outline a best practice approach to connected systems integration in buildings, covering common communications and built environment challenges. The aims are to improve connectivity, communications networking and connected systems integration in residential and commercial buildings. IET is a UK-based global engineering organization focusing on electrical, electronic, manufacturing and information engineering.
