Company Says Liquid-Immersion Container Data Center Achieves PUE of Less than 1.01
HONG KONG—Allied Control, a Hong Kong-based startup, says that it has developed a container data center that can deliver a power usage effectiveness (PUE) of less than 1.01 in hot and humid climates. The 1.4 MW DataTank systems are prefabricated and look like ordinary shipping containers. They are designed to work in all kinds of climates, including hot, humid or harsh environments. The systems contain 3M’s Novec engineered fluid, which circulates passively around the electronic components. Other main components of the patent-pending design are made in Germany and the U.S. The systems are still in the demonstration phase, but the company aims to establish international trial sites in 2015 to bring its products closer to the overseas market.
